The challenge

Half the workforce works away from a screen

More than half of GSK's employees work in a production or lab environment, where they do not have easy access to a computer during the day. However good the intranet, email and Workplace are, they were never going to be the right route to that audience.

We had already helped transform their twice yearly people events, which worked well. The next opportunity was strengthening the communication rhythm between those larger events. The monthly messages needed a format that suited the frontline, and team meeting cascades needed content built for the setting.

GSK also wanted better visibility of meeting delivery and a simpler way to capture feedback, so the team could see which topics were landing best.

The brief

Reach everyone, every month, and prove it

Get engaging content every month to an audience that is genuinely difficult to reach, working in production and lab environments.

Give leaders more visibility with frontline colleagues, and make sure key messages arrive consistently across every team and every level.

Track the activity and gather feedback from users, so the content could keep improving month on month.

What we did

We built the channel and the content

01

Introduced Touchpoint

Our monthly team meeting platform, designed to cascade key messages and track meeting activity across the business.

02

Asked teams what they wanted

We spoke directly with teams to understand what content they wanted and how they preferred it delivered, rather than assuming.

03

Rethought the format

That insight moved the content away from dense slides towards video, voiceover and simplified visuals, which suited the setting far better.

04

Layered the content three ways

Core for all teams, optional for relevant project updates, and local for business unit messages. Leaders got flexibility, messages stayed consistent.

05

Made it work in the room

We supported both in-person and virtual formats and helped install touchscreen TVs on site, so leaders could navigate content live.

06

Closed the loop

A tracking and confirmation step gave monthly reports on delivery by team, plus feedback to keep improving the topics.
